A Jefferson resident was involved in a two-vehicle fatal accident that occurred Friday, Sept. 4, at 12:50 pm at the intersection of 130th St and Robin Ave north of Lidderdale in Carroll County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Jacob Allen Hubbs, 20, of Jefferson was northbound on Robin Ave driving a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. He failed to stop as posted at the intersection of 130th St, and struck a westbound 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by Kenneth Lee Johnston, 76, of Lanesboro.
Hubbs’ pickup truck came to rest in the intersection facing south. Johnston’s car entered the north ditch and came to rest facing south.
Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene. Hubbs and a passenger, Brian Glenn Hubbs, 43, of Carroll, were transported to St Anthony Hospital by Carroll County EMS. All three persons were wearing seatbelts.
The accident remains under investigation.
